New Works

I don't have a name for this series of work...it is really a personal journey.  Over the past year, I have played with working in different ways and stepping out of my comfort zone.  It was scary and fun at the same time.  These paintings are some of the results....

Pop of Color          36x36

Pink Rosettes          36x36

Arsenic and Lace          30x48

Dusk at Puerto Vallarta          36x48

Scarred Heart          36x48

Ocean Breeze          24x48

Crazy Bird Lady          30x40

Goodnight Moon          40x48

If you are not able to come to the show on Tuesday, July 8, no problem.  The paintings will be up throughout the month of July.

Thanks for taking a look,
Linda

Sister Art

Yes, I am again bragging on one of my sisters...
My sister, Ann, took Kelly Rae Roberts Online Painting Course
and look at her beautiful paintings!!

Now, maybe you can understand my inferiority complex as a child.  haha

To see the entire post of her online course, go to her blog My Yellow Teacup.

Maybe someday I can take this course also.
Way to go, Ann!

Two New Series...

Glitter Market here I come!
This Spring I have worked on two very different series...
One happy and one a bit...odd.

My Zinnia Garden Series came about as I was playing around.
I think I had been looking at my dreary garden and longing for my zinnias.
Once the colors started forming, I couldn't stop!

This series was inspired by Eye Miniatures from the 1700's.  Somehow, online I found one and was so intrigued, I started digging around for more information.  In the 1700s, tiny portraits of a loved one's eye was encased in a beautiful piece of jewelry (broach, ring, etc.) as a sign of affection.  I loved this idea and was moved to paint my own eyes...obviously larger.

See You Tomorrow!!

Sister's Quilt

I spent last week with my sister, Judy, in Iowa.  Judy has been diagnosed with
Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma, a very rare form of cancer.
Her friend, Amy Barta, came by with the most beautiful quilt she made for Judy
and I want to share it with you.
(To see the entire blog post go to:  http://www.aquiltingsheep.com/2014/03/judys-quilt.html)

As you can see, Judy loves blue!  I wish you could see it in person, it is amazing!

Check out Amy's blog, A Quilting Sheep, to see more of her gorgeous quilts!
Be sure to check out her Swoon Quilt, one of my favorites!

Thank you, Amy, for being such a good friend to Judy!

Simple Things

This past Sunday, I impulsively hopped on the train to visit my friend in Ft. Worth.
Of course, our first stop was to visit Simple Things.  If you have never been, and you happen to be in FtW, be sure to make a mad dash to their new Warehouse/Showroom!  It is spectacular!

The space is huge and their design team does a beautiful job styling their unique furniture and found objects.

(I was very close to crawling into this bed with my book and cup of coffee.)

As their name suggests, Simple Things is so good at taking ordinary objects
and styling them so you see their beauty.  These old salt/pepper shakers
piled into an old wooden bowl….that's all you need.

If you can't make it to FtW, be sure to follow them on their blog, Instagram, Pinterest and/or Facebook.

So much INSPIRATION!!

Postcards From Germany

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!
I'm starting to get back into the swing of things.
We had a wonderful time in Germany…
especially seeing our daughter.

And got to see some amazing art too!

Now, I'm back to work at Anthropologie, prepping canvases
for an upcoming show, and just living life.
Glad to be home!
