After Christmas Gift

I have been spying these dessert plates since they came in at Anthropologie.
This week they went on sale, and I treated myself!
I'm in love.
And, Mother Nature gifted me the snow!

It's Beginning...

to look a little like Christmas!

I finally got my front entry done for Christmas.
It is on the minimal side, and I love the simplicity of it!

The horse was inspired by my friend, Brenda.
It was her vision....this is my execution of it.

My wreath...covered in vintage trims and fabric and walmart candles.

Hopefully, I will have more Christmas to show soon!

Turkey Time in DC

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Washington DC, where my daughter is doing an internship with The National Defense University.
It was a beautiful time to be in DC!

One of the highlights was going to The National Gallery of Art and getting to view such an immense collection of modern art!  Below are a few of my favorites:

We also did a lot of walking, shopping, sight-seeing, eating great food, and just being with each other.
Emma, Cousin Alyssa, Chip, Me

My only wish would have been that the entire family could have been with us!
We missed you Trav, Meg, Ollie, Tay, Jake, Fin and Pip!

Sister's Wedding Painting

My Sister, Ann, married her high school sweetheart this past August.  All the sisters love Bobby and are so happy for both of them!  When I asked Ann what she wanted for a wedding gift, she knew immediately.  She wanted a family floral painting.  So, I met my sisters and nieces in Arkansas and we had a painting party.  She wanted her bouquet of flowers to be all shades of pinks and reds.  I think it turned out really pretty!
The Party

Finished Painting
She also wanted glitter!  So I added the glittered berries and put glitter dots inside the small pink roses.  Since I knew the painting was going to be hung in her shabby chic guest bedroom, I finished the edges by applying vintage wallpaper and pink velvet ribbon.

Again, here are the BEFORE and AFTER pictures:

To make it a special, I put their wedding date on the vase.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

A Couple's Shower

This past weekend, I co-hosted a shower at my house for a darling, young couple who are getting married in November.  I also helped a young friend that I worked with at The Cloverleaf set up and decorate her reception the previous weekend.  That is why I have not posted in a while.  So, I would love to show you what I HAVE been doing!

The above piece I created to hang in my foyer as you entered the party.  I used my collection of old laces, trims and vintage jewelry.  I have also been working on more of these for The Glitter Market coming up October 27.

Let the party begin:

It all started with the invitation.

 Todd and Fransen

I used some of my vintage, wedding toppers for the entry.
So fun to get to actually use them!

In my kitchen, I have an old school chalkboard.
We used this to let the guests write their congratulation wishes.

Centerpiece for food table.
Old tarnished silver stacked on old, tiny bibles.
A mixture of roses, hydrangeas, mums for a "just picked" look.

In the living room I used all natural elements I found outside
(except for the glittered birds) for a floral arrangement.
Sticks, hydrangeas from my backyard and one of my found, bird's nests.
Inside the nest, I spelled out the word "love" with my scrabble letters.

Fransen and myself

It was so much fun preparing and hosting this shower for such a lovely, couple!
Best Wishes!!

PS:  Thank you, Jamie, for all your help and the wonderfully, delicious food!

PSS:  I am back to work on some new artwork for
The Glitter Market!

Sister Act

I've just returned home from a visit with my sisters in North Little Rock, AR.  It is the first time we have been all together in 6 years!  It was so wonderful being together again.  I'd like to show you what my sisters have been up to.

Judy's Vintage Sheet Quilt
I wish my pictures had turned out better...this is a BEAUTIFUL quilt!  It is so pretty she is starting another one. We spent lots of time thrifting looking for vintage sheets.

Ann's Felt Bouquets

Ann just remarried the first of August.  She made her own bridal bouquet out of felt and buttons.  It is so pretty!  The pink felt flowers are some from an earlier bouquet.

Sarah's Photograph

While staying at my sister, Sarah's, I was helping her decorate her new place.  We found some of her old black and white photographs.  This is one of my favorites.  (Yes, that is me as her subject.  ha)  This was at an old, old cemetery in Little Rock.  Photo circa 1984?

Just in case you are wondering, this is our birth order:  Judy, Ann, Sarah, Me (the baby).

Cupcake

My friend, Angie's, birthday was this past weekend.

She wanted a tiny "cupcake" painting by Artist, Ruth Borum-Loveland, who happens to be the Display Coordinator at Anthropologie, OKC.  Ruth is an AMAZING artist and I love all her work!   It was my mission to get Angie one of Ruth's paintings.  Unfortunately, she did not have anymore cupcakes.  So....this is my attempt at cupcake painting!

4" x 4"

Happy Birthday, Angie!

(Be sure to go to Ruth's website and check out her beautiful paintings!)

Silvestri Update

Okay, here's the deal.  I submitted nine original pieces of artwork to Silvestri.  They chose five to be reproduced and marketed.  After taking them to Market, the top two sellers were printed and shipped to retailers.

HERE THEY ARE!

The print quality is really great!  This is my photo of the print.

Each piece is bordered with velvet ribbon.

Embellishments added to the prints.

This has been a very exciting and educational experience.  I want to thank Linda and Angela at Silvestri for all their help and guidance during this process.  They were wonderful to work with!

I know Cloverleaf Boutique will be carrying my prints.
I will find out other sources and post later.
