Vintage Treasures

I have been collecting vintage Christmas ornaments since my friend, Cherry, and I had our antique booth. I'm sure some of you remember our darling, little "Cherryland" booth at The Antique Co-Op on May Avenue. haha We even expanded to a second booth at The Colonies Antique Market on 51st St. & N. Western. That all ended when Cherry moved to Texas approximately 8 years ago. ANYWAY, even though I didn't have the booths anymore, I was still collecting ornaments. (It kills me to think of how many I sold!)

I usually hang all my ornaments on my tree, with loads of vintage beaded garland and icicles. But, this year, I picked out my favorites and displayed them in glass containers. I love being able to see them all with their beautiful colors and little details.

(These are displayed on a heart shaped candle holder)

My tree this year is covered in white, glittered snowflakes and white twinkly lights...that's all.

And I really love it!

Promises, Promises

WOW! Where has the time gone! Like everyone else, life got BUSY! I did finally put up my Christmas decorations. And, as promised, I have some more photos of some of my collections. I didn't go ALL OUT this year. Kept things grouped in tidy, little bunches. I'm going through a "clean it out" phase, so you may see some of my past passions at the thrift store after Christmas! haha

This is my (partial) collection of sequined ornaments. I do still LOVE these! I just love that someone made and designed each and every one of them. I love the funky colors and off-the-wall patterns on some of them. Obviously, some of the ladies had their own ideas and didn't follow the patterns on the kit!

And, I promise, I have more pics to upload in the next couple of days!

Back to shopping and wrapping!!

It's Beginning...

...to look a little like Christmas.

I've just started decorating my house for the Holidays. These are my Santa mugs I've been collecting for years. I finally had to STOP! It was ridiculous! They are just so nostalgic to me...we only had a couple when I was growing up, not enough for my 3 sisters and me to each have one. I guess that's why I had to get enough for any and all who come to my house now!

I will share more of my collections as I get them out.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, salad,
twice-baked potatoes, sweet potatoes,
chocolate sheet cake, Mystery pie, pumkin pie...
that's just what I know about!
I plan on trying it all!!

Here we are!

These are some of the other vendors at the Market.

Jackie Peters and Franc Franke.

Definitely voted Most Popular! They had customers lined up outside waiting to get in and devour their beautiful paper art. Jackie also teaches classes at Paper Crown.

Robin Thomas kept us in "stitches" all day. She creates the lovliest, coziest, knitted scarves and shrugs as well as sews precious, unique dolls. You can find her creations on Etsy too!

Holly Abston was there with her sweet, handmade ornaments and repurposed, vintage jewelry. (Unfortunately, you can't see it because she sold almost all of it!)Ann Denise of Whim and Fancy Designs came from Ft. Worth, TX!

She brought her crepe paper creations and also taught a class.

This is a small market with BIG potential!

The Beat of My Art

Exciting news! While at The Creative Connection, I met a wonderful woman/artist named Debbie Egizio. Well, let me start again . . . I met a very nice man, who gallantly came to my rescue as I tried to haul all my crap (I mean, my exquisite display pieces and artwork) into the event center to set up for the show. Turns out, it was Debbie's brother. He had just finished helping her set up her space and, for some unknown reason, decided to help me out! Afterwards, he introduced me to his sister, Debbie.

As the show progressed, Debbie and I chit-chatted and realized, as different as our backgrounds were, we were alot alike. We had an immediate connection, and it must have been fate that our spaces were practically right next to each other.

Okay, back to Debbie and her good news! Debbie has been featured in the November issue of Where Women Create! It is a wonderful article! Please be sure to find a copy somewhere and look her up. Her artwork is beautiful as is her message about being your true creative self.

You can find Debbie at her blog

or her website, The Beat of My Art.

And, I have the privilege of saying:

"THAT'S MY FRIEND!"

Howdy Fa'll!

As I sit here, posting, the cool weather is blowing in! Which means...boot weather!! I'm so ready to put away the flip flops and start wearing my cowboy boots! It may look as if I may have a problem concerning boots. But, as you will see below, not really. Like any good, honest, junker, I love to tell everyone what a great deal I got on something. Therefore, you must endure this obnoxious behavior if you choose to scroll down through this post.

Sittin round the fire pit.

Owl-O-Ween

For the second year, I am obsessed with owls for Halloween! I don't know if it is because my daughter became a Chi-O last year or nostalgia from my teen years in the 1970's! Whatever the reason, I love them and used them again in my house for Halloween.

This is the entry to my house:

These look like giant owls to me in their nests.

(My daughter thinks this is creepy.)

My dress form in her witching attire.

Dining Room Centerpiece.

A witch I made several years ago protects the guest bedroom.

(I have a tub full of witches I haven't finished...will that ever happen??)

Unfortunately, I will probably not be getting to any Halloween paintings. So, I will stop stressing and just enjoy the season!
